e-Khata Initiative

  • Issue: BBMP portal glitches (data errors, upload failures, stuck processes).
  • Solution: Jana Sevaka set up 2-day camp (April 12–13, 2025) at Purva Seasons, Bengaluru – helped ~350 residents.
  • Services: e-Khata processing, Aadhaar for children, address change.

Impact

  • Convenient for elderly (e.g., 91-year-old updated Aadhaar in 5 mins).
  • Eliminated dependence on agents/brokers.
  • Supported by Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF).
  • Over 50 apartment complexes benefited so far.

  • Errors in BBMP database.

Mangaluru Water Metro Project

Approval & Objective

  • Approved by: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah (April 2025).
  • Proposed by: Karnataka Maritime Board (KMB).
  • Aims to connect Bajal to Maravoor via Netravathi and Gurupura rivers.

Significance

  • Inspired by: Kochi Water Metro (Kerala).
  • If implemented, it will be the 2nd largest water transport system in India after Kochi.

Development Steps

  • KMB will prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
  • Approved setting up of Karnataka Water Transport Training Centre in Mangaluru under Sagarmala project.
  • Release of Karnataka Inland Transport Policy 2024.

  • Evict encroachments on port lands.
  • Drone survey ordered for island development in Uttara Kannada (report in 3 months).
  • Study port operations in AP, Kerala, TN, Gujarat, Vizag for benchmarking.
