Jain Tirthankara Sculpture and Stone Pillar Found in Hassan
- Jain sculptures related to Jainism have been found in the village.
- In 2015, two sculptures of young women holding a ‘chamara’ and a pillar were discovered.
- Last year, a soapstone statue of Kalabhairava, stone lamps, pillar, and a manuscript were found.
- A statue similar to Mahaveera was also discovered and protected by the villagers.
- The residents of 15 villages of Hemavathi backwaters have lived in Sulugodu Somavara village since 1963.

Supreme Court Dismisses Cauvery-Vellar Project Approval
- The Union government has not granted ‘in-principle approval’ to the Cauvery-South Vellar Link project, four years after Tamil Nadu requested clearance from the Jal Shakti Ministry in January 2021.
- The decision was made in response to an application by Karnataka urging the court to restrain Tamil Nadu from proceeding with the project.
