About e-Swathu Portal

Vidyasiri-Food and Accommodation Scholarship Scheme (Karnataka)

Purpose:
 Supports OBC students from Karnataka pursuing post-matric (higher education) courses who are not in government hostels.

Eligibility:

  • Karnataka residents
  • Belong to OBC categories (as per State/GOI lists)
  • Studying post-matric courses
  • Students living 5+ km away from college (especially rural areas)

Benefits:
 ₹1500/month for 10 months (₹15,000/year) for food and accommodation.

Relevance to UPSC Aspirants:

  • Not UPSC-specific, but helps reduce living expenses during higher education.

Indirect support by easing financial burdens, allowing more focus on UPSC prep.

New Karnataka School Admission Guidelines

  • 50% seats in all schools are reserved for girls.
  • If girls don’t fill 50%, remaining can go to boys as per reservation rules.
  • No tests or interviews allowed for students or parents during admission.
  • Schools must publicly display fee details on notice boards, websites, and SATS software.
  • No extra (capitation) fee is allowed; violations will face fines and legal action.
  • Admission process must be transparent – class-wise seat availability, fee, and schedule must be published.
  • Reservation rules for SC, ST, and OBCs are mandatory.
  • In aided schools run by SC/ST boards, 50% seats must go to their community children.

Strict legal action for any rule violations.
