BBMP rolls out faceless e-khata system to boost transparency, efficiency

The initiative aims at eliminating the role of middlemen, reduce corruption, and ensure time-bound disposal of khata-related applications across the city.

What is e-Khata?

  • e-Khata is the digital version of the Khata Certificate, a legal document that records property details

 The online system for obtaining an e-Khata is called “e-Aasthi”.

Bhu Suraksha Yojane

Launched : 2024
Objective:

Digitise all base land records in Karnataka, including categories A and B
Make them accessible online through the Bhu Suraksha portal

Kaiga Atomic Power Station Expansion

Event: Installation of 5th and 6th nuclear reactors at Kaiga

Location: Kaiga, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka

Project Details

  • Units: KGS 5 and KGS 6 – Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) units
  • Total Capacity: 1,400 MW (700 MW each)
  • Expected Commissioning: By 2030
  • Project Cost: ₹21,000 crore, to be disbursed over 5 years

  • Reduction in carbon emissions
  • Diversification of energy mix through nuclear power
  • Contributes to India’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070

  • Operated by: Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL)

Existing Units: 4 pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) already operational

India Post to Merge Registered Post with Speed Post

Starting September 1, registered post will be merged with speed post, ending one ofIndia Post’s oldest services.

Aviation & UDAN in Karnataka

Event: Proposal to operate flights from Ballari and Kolar under UDAN 5.2

Bids received under UDAN 5.2 for <20-seater aircrafts from:

  • Ballari airstrip
  • Kolar airstrip

Condition:

  • State govt. must provide land free of cost and encumbrance-free
  • Initial aircraft category: 2B (small aircrafts)
  • Future expansion potential to category 3C (larger aircrafts)

UDAN 5.2 has been launched for further enhancing the connectivity to remote and regional areas of the country and achieving last-mile connectivity through small aircraft such as 1A (<9 seats) and Category 1(<20 seats).

 

Currently operational airports under RCS-UDAN in Karnataka:

  • Bidar, Mysuru, Vijayanagar, Hubballi, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Shivamogga

Unserved airstrips listed for bidding:

  • Ballari, Kolar, Kushalnagar, Raichur, Hassan
