Karnataka government approved the 27.5% salary hike recommended by the seven pay commission led by K Sudhakar Rao. It rise minimum salary to Rs 27,000 for 12 lakh employees
Context:
The Pay Commission is an essential institutional mechanism that plays a pivotal role in determining the salaries, allowances, and benefits of millions of central and state government employees. As a critical component of the country’s administrative setup, the commission periodically evaluates the prevailing economic conditions and recommends appropriate revisions in pay scales to ensure fair remuneration for the public sector workforce

Pay commissions are usually constituted every 10 years and the first pay commission was set up in 1946. Since Independence, a total of seven pay commissions have been formed

Sirigannadam Gelge R H Deshpande award
context:
- “Sirigannadam Gelge ” is a famous Kannada phrase meaning “Let small Kannada flourish.” The “Deshpande Award” refers to an award named after the renowned Kannada poet, playwright, and folklorist Ra H Deshpande.
About R.H.Deshpande:
- Ramchandra Hanamantarao Deshpande (1861 – 1931) popularly known as “Sirigannadam Gelge” Mantra Drishta Ra.H. Deshpande . Educationist, librarian and Kannada movement organizer.
He was born on 20th March 1861 in Narendra village, about 15 km from Dharwad town . His father was Hamanmantrao Deshpande of Vatanadar family. He died on 25-6-1931.
