1.Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill
Context:
- The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in Karnataka Tuesday tabled a bill, which proposes to divide the state’s capital, Bengaluru, into smaller administrative zones for “effective governance”, and to “streamline political accountability” and “improve the quality of life”.
What the bill proposes:
- Though the bill proposed that the number of city corporations in the GBA “shall not exceed ten”, people aware of the developments say that it is likely to be split into five administrative zones.
- The bill specifies that the area falling under each of the city corporations will have a population of no more than 10 lakh, density of 5,000 people per square km, while revenue generated by the local unit will not be less than Rs 300 crore per annum.
- The GBA will have a three-tier system with city corporations and ward committees making up the second and third tiers, respectively, according to the proposal.
- The Authority will be headed by the Chief Minister, with Bengaluru Development, and Home and Urban Development ministers, among its 21 members.
2.KSR Brindavan park
Context:
- The authorities have initiated a project to upgrade Brindavan Park ,with an estimated budget of ₹2,663 crore under a ‘Public Private Partnership’ framework.
- A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been and submitted to the Cauvery Irrigation Corporation by Sincere Architect Engineers from Rajasthan
- ‘Brindavan Recreational Park’ across a sprawling 198-acre area.
Highlights of the project include:
- The purpose of constructing a park over 198 acres.
- Submission of DPR by the Rajasthan Institute.
- Pending Cabinet approval.
- The report has been forwarded to the Finance Department for approval by the Cabinet Committee of the Government.
- The project is part of the ‘One District One Destination’ scheme, with Krishnarajasagar being chosen as the destination under the State Tourism Policy-2020.

- Brindavan Garden is situated in the Kaveri river basin, around 19 km northwest of Mysuru city. and In Srirangapattana of Mandya district
- It was originally constructed in 1927 and completed in 1932 under the supervision of Sir Mirza Ismail, the then Diwan of Mysore.

3.Implementation of Village Swaraj Act
Context:
- During a recent interview with Prakash Rathore , Chief Minister Siddaramaiah discussed the amendments made to the Karnataka State Village Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act during his tenure in 2016.
- These initiatives utilized reservations for Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and Women in local bodies.
